National museum of archeology and Republic of Moldova history. This building involves at once a sight - strict lines, a majestic facade, columns and domes. And inside - warm, solar dies of a parquet, majestic domes and silence, it is obedient protecting secrets of ancient artefacts. Probably, the main museum of the country where the richest collection of exhibits of different epoch and the people is collected also should be such.
The museum in this building is opened rather recently, in 1987. A building known Kishinev architect Shalaginov, taking for a basis has designed a facade of a building of a man's grammar school which settled down on this place since XIX century. And a collection of exhibits have based exactly quarter of the century ago, in 1983 when State historical museum МССР has been created. Before a building till recent times there was a bronze she-wolf with Ромулом and Ремом - an exact copy of the Roman monument. Unfortunately, now it is on restoration.
In halls and museum store rooms it is stored about 300 thousand exhibits. The first hall is devoted archeology. The painted ceramics adjoins to axes and spears of times of a paleolith. The Ancient Greek amphoras time and again crossing Ionichesky, Egejsky and black exhausting, now easy recline in the Pink hall of a museum. And ornaments of our ancestors, earrings, bracelets, the necklaces, any miracle having gone through the millenia, all kind speak to modern seductresses: look, the fashion has not too strongly changed! The archaeological collection totals 18тысяч subjects of epoch of the Neolith and the Paleolith, Bronze and Iron centuries, times of Roman empire and the Middle Ages.
The following hall is devoted the weapon. Sabres and draughts, the military form and muskets, chain armours and helmets - equipments would suffice on small army. Nearby - clothes of clerics of different faiths, spiritual books and one of the first printing Bibles.
Modest luxury. Strange sounds, whether a lie? You will understand, that I mean, when will get to a hall devoted to XIX century. Dream of any fan of antiques - heavy bronze candlesticks, graceful little tables on гнутых legs, mirrors, sofas and solid bureaus. Impression such as if has got to the house of a family of noble family. It seems, music just about will begin to sound, and elegant steams will solemnly float in a minuet under a majestic dome of a hall. Or there is a owner, will rise for a desk, will slowly dip a goose feather in an inkwell and will write the verses devoted to the Kishinev beauty.
The collection of times of I World and the Great Patriotic War deserves separately attention. The interested the visitor will find military history both samples of the weapon, and the form of different combat arms, both a collection of posters-appeals, and personal things of fighters. And on the museum ground floor the diopama devoted to the Jassko-Kishinev operation of 1944 is located.
Also do not pass a museum pearl, an exhibition «Тезаур». The gold and silver coins, richly inlaid ancient swords, medals of various historical epoch. Some of them belong still to times of board of Roman emperor Trajana (81-96 of AD).
All treasures of a museum keep skilful hands of restorers. Them in a museum only eight persons. Someone specialises on furniture, someone - on the weapon. Restore both weaver's products, and carpets, and ceramics. One of workers of a museum, Victor Filatov, with own hand carries out copies of chain armours. Tools uses modern, but each ringlet connects manually under ancient drawings. Such chain armour weighs an order of 20-30 kg. Independently neither to put on it, nor to remove it is impossible. But, only having put on, you understand, how it was heavy to be at war to medieval knights in such ammunition.
The museum publishes the literature - magazine "Тезаур" is intended for fans of history and archeology.
Academician Dmitry Lihachev wrote once: «the Present moment for us very important time. The future is always tempting. But the richest time is the past». To plunge into the past the museum exposition helps. Visit, will not regret.
