President Vladimir Voronin today received the head of the delegation of the OSCE PA monitoring early parliamentary elections Petrosa Eftimiu. The President welcomed the delegation to the OSCE PA Election Observation on 29 July in the Republic of Moldova, noting the complete openness of the Moldovan authorities for the close cooperation with the aim of fair and free parliamentary elections. Vladimir Voronin expressed his belief that the observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will contribute to the effective monitoring of elections and make unbiased conclusions about the electoral process.
Petros Eftimiu stressed the increasing interest both from the OSCE and the CoE, EU, other European and regional structures for the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova. The European official noted that the July 29 elections should offer a political solution of the crisis in the Republic of Moldova, and this can happen when very good provision of early elections.
Vladimir Voronin and Petros Eftimiu were united in the opinion of the need to eliminate any suspicion of a free and democratic elections on 29 July. The two sides discussed, inter alia, the need to ensure the accuracy of voter lists, as well as ensure the free exercise of independent and public media.
President Voronin reiterated in this context, the intention of the country's leadership to do everything possible to conduct a transparent and democratic electoral process and the interest to achieve at the end of the parliamentary elections of national consensus. The President said that he, as leader of the PCRM recently made a proposal to consolidate the political power after the elections on July 29. These initiatives are based on five key areas have been put forward to achieve the unity of all political forces in the country for the sake of continuous development and modernization of the Republic of Moldova.
