Socio-economic results of the last 8 years prove that the Republic of Moldova - promising country, de facto recognized by more than 160 countries in the world, announced today by President Vladimir Voronin at a meeting of the Cabinet.
Head of State noted that over the last 8 years have seen the main objective of improving the quality of life. Thus, revealing in this regard is the increase in life expectancy in the country - from 59.7 years to nearly 70 years. Also improved demographics, managed to reduce infant mortality.
Vladimir Voronin said that during this period a revolution in healthcare - the transition to insurance medicine, decided the everyday problems of this area. The country has rebuilt the primary sector of medicine, this contributes to providing quality services.
Important measures have been taken in the field of social security of citizens of advanced age. At present there are about 180 centers for the elderly and lonely people, where they daily social assistance and provide necessary medical services. And in early 2001 in Moldova worked only 4 of these institutions.
In addition, the important steps taken in the field of education, where the emphasis is on quality education. Currently, over 70% of public schools financed from the budget.
Vladimir Voronin took to the success and implementation of the National Program for gasification, whereby the "blue fuel" to connect over 90% of localities in Moldova, while in 2001, the rate of gasification of the country was equal to 7%. Thus, there is a real chance to implement this program within the prescribed deadlines - December 30, 2010.
Head of State noted the importance of implementing water supply programs. This is a - expensive, but important to maintain the quality of life program.
