Today started in Chisinau summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which Canada chairs. Here Moldova will give Russia presidency. Vice-Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Lyanke indicated that the priority of the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova is a European integration. At the same time, the ruling coalition, represented by AEI, in favor of maintaining ties with all countries of the CIS.
Chairman of CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev noted that at the meeting in a narrow circle of foreign ministers decided to withdraw from the agenda of a number of issues related to education, migration and military structures. He clarified that the problem will be discussed enhancing cooperation among member States of CIS in the humanitarian field, to ensure collective security and veterans' organizations. Council will discuss and decide on the initiative launched by ex-president of Moldova Vladimir Voronin, to celebrate the 65 th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War. Lebedev said that the next meeting of Foreign Ministers of the CIS will be held in March 2010 in Moscow.
