A motor rally named "Independence Cup 2006" has started from Chisinau's central square this morning. Dedicated to the approaching 15th anniversary of Moldova's independence, the event involves 15 tuned cars driven by the nation's best racers.
The rally was organized by the Teleradio-Moldova public service broadcaster, Moldovan Federation of Automobile Sports, and Valexchimp company, under the patronage of President Voronin. The rally's 1,200-km-long course will run via 15 major populated areas across the country.
The winner will receive a cash prize of US$1,000, the second-best racer -- US$500, and the third one -- US$300, along with rally cups and other presents.
