The chairman of the Venetian commission Gianni Buchicchio arrived to Chisinau. The president of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon met Gianni Buchicchio. The questions connected with possible introduction of amendments to the Constitution, to the legislation on elections, and to other laws are discussed. Including for the purpose of expansion of powers of the President of the country in questions of dissolution of parliament.
"On the one hand, it is supported by most of citizens, with another - corresponding changes provide balance between institute of the president and parliament", Igor Dodon noted. The legislative initiative is provided. If it won't find support from parliament, the president will address for necessary consultation the people of the Republic of Moldova.
Gianni Buchicchio emphasized that he for ensuring balance between government branches. He assured that the structure run by it will support any petition conforming to the commonly accepted international standards. The parties came to the agreement that the project on introduction of amendments to the Constitution and other laws will be transferred to the Venetian commission until the end of this week.
Having concerned a question of possible change of the Code of elections, the head of state firmly spoke in favor for preserving a present electoral system. At the same time he noted need of amending for providing the right to vote for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova where they were, and also for providing representation in legislature of our citizens both who are outside the country, and living on the left coast of Dniester.
