Igor Dodon was born on February 18, 1975 in the village of Sadova of Kalarashsky district, the Moldavian SSR, the USSR. I have graduated from economics department of the State agricultural university, faculty of management of the Moldavian academy of economic knowledge, faculty of the economic right of the International institute of management. Doctor of Economics. As an economist.
After the termination of higher educational institutions, during the period from 1997 to 2001, I held a position of the Leading Expert of Department of Clearing, Department of Listing, the Administrator of Electronic System of the Auction and the Department director Marketinga, Listing and the Quotation of Stock exchange of Moldova.
From 2001 to 2005 I was the chairman of National depositary of securities of Moldova.
From 2003 to 2005 I worked as the chairman of Universal commodity exchange of Moldova.
During 1997 — 2005, in parallel with primary activity, working as the senior teacher of Academy of Economic Knowledge of Moldova, I also taught at the International independent university of Moldova, the International institute of management, the Moldavian State university.
I am married, three children.
From May, 2005 to September, 2006 I held a position of the deputy minister of economy and trade.
On September 18, 2006 it is appointed to a position of the Minister of Economy and Trade.
On March 31, 2008 it is appointed to a position of the first deputy prime minister, Minister of Economy and Trade.
In 2009 I became the deputy from the PCRM, both after elections on April 5, and after the early elections on July 29.
On September 14, 2009 I have retired together with other deputies from the PCRM from Zinaida Greceanii's government as the post of the deputy and a post of the minister are incompatible under the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.
On April 2, 2011 the decision of the PCRM it is appointed the candidate for elections of a primar of Chisinau which were held in June, 2011. By their results Igor Dodon has collected in 1 tour 48,07% of votes, in the 2nd tour — 49,40% of voices.
On November 4, 2011 together with deputies of parliament from fraction of Communist Party Zinaida Greceanii and Veronika Abramchuk has left fraction of communists in parliament and the PCRM.
On November 9, 2011 I have declared accession to Party of socialists.
On November 18, 2011 the parliamentary group of socialists which three deputies who have left Communist Party on November 4, 2011 have entered has been created.
On November 23, 2011 Igor Dodon became the official member of the party Sotsialistov of the Republic of Moldova, and on December 18, 2011, at the X Congress Sotsialistov has been elected the chairman of the party.
On November 13, 2016 Igor Dodon, by a majority vote in the second round of direct presidential elections, has been elected the President of the Republic of Moldova.
