Constantin MIHAILESCU, Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources
Born on April 4, 1959 in the village of Cirpesti, Cantemir Rayon, Constantin Mihailescu graduated from the State Pedagogical Institute of Tiraspol (Moldova), the Department of Geography and Biology.
He holds the degree of Dr. Habilitate in Geography
Following graduation he starts his professional activity as teacher of Geography at Secondary School nr.1 in the village of Ciobruci, Slobozia Rayon.
During 1986-1991 he is doing his doctorate on Geography at the Academy of Sciences of the URSS in Moscow.
In 1986-1990 he is Assistant, then Senior Lector at the Chair of Geography and General Physics of the State Institute of Tiraspol.
In 1990-1998 he is Senior Scientific Expert of the Palaeontology Laboratory and Academic Secretary of the Geographic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
In 1998-1999 – Principal Consultant of the Committee for Culture, Science, Education and Media of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.
From 1999 to 2000 he is responsible for Institutional Capacity Building of Environment NGOs with the Regional Environment Centre REC-Moldova.
Between 2000 and 2004 he holds the position of Executive Director of the Scientific Association INAUA-Moldova.
Since March 2004 by Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Constantin Mihailescu is appointed Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources.
He is married and father of a child.
