Tvircun Victor, minister of Education and Youth, born October 18, 1955 in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova.
A graduate of the State University of Moldova, the Department of History and Social Sciences in 1980, he followed Postgraduate studies at the State University of Moldova in 1984 – 1987 and attended Courses in diplomacy in Washington in 1994.
Holder of Doctor’s degree in Historical Sciences.
He starts his professional career as Assistant to the Chair of History at the State Pedagogical University of Ion Creanga in Chisinau, then Assistant to the Chair of History at the State University of Moldova. Alongside his pedagogical career he carried out his research activity and soon was granted a Doctor’s degree by the State University of Moldova.
In 1987-1993 he is Docent at the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History at the State University of Moldova.
1993 – 1995 – Assistant to the Head of the Europe and North America Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
1995 – 1998 – Adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Republic of Turkey;
1998 – 1999 - Head of the Europe and North America Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
1999 – 2001 – Embassy Adviser and Charghe d’ Affairs of the Republic of Moldova to Hungary;
2001 – 2005 – Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Turkey, cumulating the position of Ambassador to Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Lebanon.
Upon vote of confidence of the Parliament and by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova he is appointed on April 19, 2005 Minister of Education, Youth and Sport of Republic of Moldova.
He masters Romanian, Russian, English and Turkish.
Married, with 2 children.
